6. Relevant Information:

Guqin is one of China’s most ancient plucked string instruments. With its vastly distinct music from other kinds of Chinese music, it has unique characteristics and important standing in the life of China’s ancient intellects, representing a distinctive sphere of China’s traditional philosophy.

In the afternoon on November 7th, 2003, the UNESCO announced Guqin as an Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

Following the Central government’s call to promote excellent traditional culture and practice the core values of socialism, we have decided to introduce Guqin into our campus and hold the first elementary Guqin program and traditional Chinese culture workshop before the 110th anniversary of our university, providing a platform for faculty and students to learn about China’s excellent traditional culture and inviting international students to learn Chinese culture.

USST, with its more than 100 years of history, should especially set itself apart in the cultural realm, contribute to the harmonious development of campus development and international cultural exchanges.
